Jude Bellingham was shown a straight red card in the 40th minute of Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Osasuna for verbal protests against the referee

Referee Munuera Montero explained his decision to Luka Modric and Vinicius Jr., stating that the 21-year-old midfielder had shouted “f*** you” at him.

In the official match report, Munuera Montero wrote the same: “In the 40th minute, player (5) Bellingham, Jude Victor William, was sent off for the following reason: For addressing me from a short distance with the words ‘F*** you’.”

If the official match report is followed, the midfielder faces a two-match ban, ruling him out against Girona and Real Betis.

Referee misunderstood what was said

However, there is a possibility that Bellingham walks away without any suspension as it appears that the referee misunderstood what the midfielder said.

According to footage from Movistar, the Real Madrid midfielder said “f*** off,” but referee Munuera Montero interpreted it as “f*** you,” leading to the dismissal.

With the video evidence suggesting otherwise, it points at a possible misunderstanding that could work in Bellingham’s favour.

Real Madrid plan to submit this footage to the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee in an attempt to overturn the decision and prevent a serious suspension for their talismanic midfielder.

While the player suspensions are based on the referee’s report, Real Madrid will argue that the Movistar footage clearly shows the midfielder saying “fuck off,” which could influence the Disciplinary Committee’s final ruling.
