Jude Bellingham says his overriding feeling is one of pride despite England’s World Cup semi-final exit to Argentina.
The Three Lions were beaten 2-1 in Atlanta and while Bellingham could not hide his disappointment, he says he is confident for the future.
“I think it’s a bit too early and to be honest it will probably be an internal matter,” Bellingham told ITV Sport when asked what went wrong for England.
“I much prefer to have those kinds of conversations with the lads and with the group.
“But I think the one thing that’s overriding for me is pride. Proud to represent my nation, and proud to have given them a few good moments along the way.
“I’ll be back and we’ll be back and we’ll try to give everything we have to bring it home for us.
“I think we can take a lot from the experience, but it is so gutting,” he also told BBC Sport.
“I wanted to be part of an England squad that finally did it (win a trophy), finally got it over the line, and to be here telling the fans that unfortunately the same things they’ve probably heard for years and years, it’s really gutting.
“I wish I could say more. I wish I could give one more win or two more wins. But at the moment, my heads a bit fuzzy with disappointment, so I’m sorry.”
