Former England youth international defender Ben Mee has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36.

Sale-born Mee initially came through Manchester City's academy, making one appearance for the senior team in the League Cup in the 2010/11 season before joining Burnley the following summer.

It was at Burnley where Mee stayed for the majority of his career, spending 11 seasons at Turf Moor in total.

Mee then continued in the Premier League with Brentford before joining Championship side Sheffield United for the 2025/26 campaign where he played 16 games in all competitions with his last appearance coming back in January in a 3-1 win at home to Ipswich Town.

In total, Mee made well over 450 appearances in his career, 277 of which were in the Premier League.
