Iman Beney says scoring the winning goal in our 3-2 victory over Arsenal is a moment she’ll never forget.
The Swiss youngster fired home her first for the Club in the 88th minute at the Joie Stadium to extend City’s winning run to five matches in all competitions.
City had twice led the Gunners thanks to goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Kerstin Casparij, but the game looked destined to finish as a draw until Beney’s late intervention.
It was a special moment for an exciting young talent, and the 19-year-old was happy to play her part in a battling win.
“To score against Arsenal is something big, and to score the winner is big too,” she said.
“I’m really happy to score my first goal for this Club and to help the team. I think it was a big performance from the whole team. I’m really happy to be part of it.”
“I hope I’ll have more big moments, for sure it’s a big moment for me. I’ll never forget my first goal, against Arsenal in the WSL.
Beney’s match-winning moment was just rewards for an energetic display from the bench.
The Swiss international has settled in well to life at the Club following a summer move from Young Boys, who she helped win the league title in 2024/25.
And Iman has paid tribute to her team-mates for their role in helping her acclimatise to her new surroundings.
She added: “I think I can just play with confidence in this team. I can improve every day because I play with the best players in the world.
“It’s a big opportunity for me, and they help me a lot. I think we’re a really good team with a lot of good players, experienced and young.
“This was an important game. We’re in a good way and we’ll keep going like this.”
