Benfica are unhappy with the appointment of Gustavo Correia for Saturday’s meeting with Famalicão, a call made at a decisive point in the season as they push for second place and Champions League qualification.
According to Glorioso 1904, there is clear anger within the club given recent history with the AF Porto official.
Correia refereed the controversial 2-2 draw with Casa Pia, a match marked by decisions that Benfica disputed.
The flashpoint was a penalty for an alleged handball by António Silva, with the ball said to have struck his leg first. José Mourinho and Rui Costa later criticised the performance of the refereeing team and the VAR.
Benfica visit Famalicão on Saturday, 2 May, in the 32nd round of Liga Portugal Betclic. Kick-off is at 18h00 at Estádio Municipal 22 de junho, in Vila Nova de Famalicão.
