Benfica announced on Tuesday, 19 May that Carissa Boeckmann is leaving the women's team after one season.

The 22-year-old American midfielder still had a year left on her contract, the club said in a statement, which thanked her for her professionalism and wished her well for the future.

It was Boeckmann's first spell outside the United States. She made 13 appearances and scored two goals as Benfica won Liga BPI and the Taça de Portugal Feminina.

On Sunday, 17 May, Benfica defeated Porto 2-0 in the Taça de Portugal Feminina final, with Caroline Møller scoring both goals.

The victory completed the double in Ivan Baptista's first season in charge, after the team secured a sixth successive league title.
