Benfica said on Friday, 12 June, that 22-year-old centre-back Joana Silva has left after four seasons, adding that both parties agreed to terminate her contract.

During her time in Lisbon she collected four Ligas BPI, one Taça de Portugal and one Taça da Liga. She also won the Second Division with the B team and the Under-19 League.

Benfica’s women ended the campaign on 17 May by beating Porto 2-0 in the Taça de Portugal Feminina final, Caroline Møller scoring both goals.

That victory sealed the double in Ivan Baptista’s first season as head coach. Following a sixth straight national title, the side closed the year with further silverware that underlined their recent dominance in Portuguese women’s football.
