Benfica moved to deny media reports on Monday about the sale of shares in the club’s SAD.
The club said in a statement that it holds no right of first refusal over the disposal of José António dos Santos’s shares and is assessing the operation and its potential impacts in line with the interests of the club and its members, rejecting claims circulated in recent days.

The clarification came one week after José António dos Santos said he had agreed to sell his 16.36% stake in the SAD to a US investment group.
