According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica’s move for André Luiz has run into a significant obstacle, with Rio Ave demanding 15 million euros for their most valuable player. Benfica are reluctant to meet that price.
Rui Costa is exploring ways to bridge the gap, including alternative clauses. One option could be granting Rio Ave a significant share of any future sell-on.
Several European clubs are monitoring the Brazilian winger’s situation. Even so, the player prefers a move to Benfica, which could prove decisive against rival interest.
On the pitch, André Luiz underlined his form by scoring twice in Rio Ave’s home win over Casa Pia in the last Liga Portugal Betclic round. That display convinced the coaching staff of the quality he can add to the squad.
This season he has played 18 games for Rio Ave, 17 in Liga Portugal Betclic and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 1,390 minutes he has seven goals and five assists, and is under contract until June 2028, with a valuation of four million euros.
