Benfica ‘make offer’ for Cody Gakpo compatriot Ryan Flamingo, 20 million euros could suffice | OneFootball

Benfica remain in the market for a centre-back, with PSV’s Ryan Flamingo emerging as a leading option. Strengthening the position is a priority for Marco Silva’s squad.

According to Ekrem Konur, Benfica have submitted an offer to PSV for Flamingo, the 23-year-old compatriot of Cody Gakpo. The defender is open to a move to the Luz, and PSV are said to be willing to negotiate for around 20 million euros.

Flamingo is under contract with PSV until 2029 and featured prominently in the club’s last two title-winning seasons. He made 49 appearances in 2024/25 as a regular starter, then played 42 times the following campaign after seeing his minutes reduced.

Valued at 14 million euros, Flamingo adds to a list of centre-backs linked with Benfica this window. The club have also been associated with Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Rui Costa has acknowledged the need to reinforce the position, saying Benfica are close to adding a new centre-back and promising updates soon.
