Anatoliy Trubin and Heorhii Sudakov, former Shakhtar Donetsk players now at Benfica, have been nominated for the Ukrainian club’s 21st-century best XI in a fan vote.
According to Glorioso 1904, Shakhtar have invited supporters to choose a team of the century so far, bringing together recent club greats. The duo may yet be joined by another compatriot at Benfica.
Trubin features among the goalkeepers, alongside Andriy Pyatov and current first choice Dmytro Riznyk, a nod to his impact in a relatively short but steady stint.
A product of Shakhtar’s academy, Trubin debuted in May 2019, quickly became first choice, and made 94 appearances across four seasons. He joined Benfica in summer 2023 and has established himself as the undisputed starter.
Sudakov, 23, is listed for his creative influence in attacking midfield. He amassed 148 games, 35 goals and 24 assists for Shakhtar.
He made his senior debut in October 2020 against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, a 2-3 defeat. Like Trubin, he later moved to Benfica, underlining the clubs’ recent links. Results of the vote will be announced during January.
