Amar Dedic gave Benfica cause for concern after reporting a physical issue and leaving the field for Bosnia against Wales in the 2026 World Cup play-off semi-final, with José Mourinho on alert.

At 106 minutes he clutched his knee, the referee summoned a stretcher, but the right-back walked off unaided, briefly returned, then was withdrawn minutes later. Record writes that he had already felt discomfort earlier yet stayed on for a short spell before reaching his limit.

Bosnia progressed only after a penalty shootout.

Before the Wales tie, Benfica’s number 17 missed one national-team training session with physical complaints. He is not thought to have fully recovered and felt a recurrence of the issue on Tuesday, 24 March.

This season for Benfica, Dedic has played 37 competitive matches, 18 in the Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,097 minutes he has one goal and three assists.
