Benfica summer window to close later than usual, key dates confirmed

Benfica and their rivals have extra time this summer, with Liga Portugal confirming the window will shut at 23:59 on 4 September 2026, later than usual.

The market opened on 1 July 2026, allowing clubs to sign, sell and register players for the 2026/27 season.

The body led by Reinaldo Teixeira has set a Friday finish, giving clubs, Benfica included, more time to align with other European markets.

After the deadline, loans can still be registered until 8 September, but only for under-23 players trained by the parent club and on temporary deals to the end of the season.

The winter window will open at the start of January and run to 23:59 on 1 February 2027, maintaining the usual two-window model.
