Benfica’s women thrashed Porto 5-1 to win the Supertaça, with Marit Lund calling it a superb way to open the season.
According to Glorioso 1904, the squad marked the victory with an autograph session at Estádio da Luz, celebrating the first trophy of the campaign and the imminent return of the Liga BPI.
Norwegian left-back Lund, 28, acted as the team’s spokesperson at the event. She reflected on the Supertaça triumph, praised the backing and the strong turnout, and said the occasion was great fun.
Looking ahead, she said Benfica want to fight for every trophy and deliver a good run in the Champions League, calling the coming months exciting.
Chasing a heptacampeonato, head coach Ivan Baptista, 34, has set the bar at winning all domestic titles. He noted significant squad renewal and said the team are unafraid to declare themselves contenders for every national trophy, while accepting the responsibility that brings. He framed it as a fresh season with new challenges.
