Benfica ‘to consider’ €15-18m bid for Jeff Ekhator | OneFootball

Benfica are weighing a move for Jeff Ekhator, with a bid in the region of €15 to €18 million under consideration, according to MaisFutebol. The Italian forward plays for Genoa and is admired by José Mourinho.

The report did not clarify whether any formal offer has yet been lodged for the Serie A club to assess. Rui Costa's board is exploring another addition in this winter window.

Ekhator is valued at seven million euros and has featured 19 times for Genoa this season. That includes 17 league outings and two in the Coppa Italia. Across 521 minutes, he has scored three goals.

Benfica are also working on a deal for Stije Resink, the Groningen midfielder. The 22-year-old was pleased by the prospect after several contacts with Mourinho.

Whether Benfica press ahead now, and whether Genoa receive a formal proposal for Ekhator, remains to be seen.
