Benfica ‘to miss out on’ Barcelona pivot Fits as Meta Catania move nears | OneFootball

Glorioso 1904 reports that Benfica have failed in their bid to bring Brazilian pivot Fits back to the men’s futsal side, with the 34-year-old preparing to join Meta Catania in Italy.

The Lisbon club had been regarded as well placed to seal his return from Barcelona, but the move will not happen.

The Portuguese champions remain without a solution at pivot for the new season after failing to agree a renewal with Higor and seeing Jacaré depart.

They have assessed several options yet have not secured the signing intended to partner Rúben Góis and Tchuda.

Meta Catania are the holders of the Italian Cup and last season’s league runners-up, a stage on which Fits is expected to continue his career.

His Barcelona stint produced modest returns, notably last season when he scored six goals in 34 appearances, down from 13 in 27 the year before.
