Benfica to stage Cosme Damião Awards on Tuesday to mark 122nd anniversary | OneFootball

Benfica will stage the Galardões Cosme Damião on Tuesday 17 to mark the club’s 122nd anniversary and honour athletes and staff. According to Glorioso 1904, the gala is part of the official celebrations.

The ceremony begins at 21:00 in Pavilion number two at the Luz complex.

It will be closed to the media and broadcast live on BTV. Voting for the various awards ran on the club’s official website until last Friday.

Footballer of the Year is among the headline prizes, with Nicolás Otamendi aiming to retain the award. His fellow nominees are António Silva, Tomás Araújo, Fredrik Aursnes, who is injured, and Vangelis Pavlidis.

Other categories include men’s breakthrough, women’s footballer of the year, women’s breakthrough, Modality of the Year, Coach of the Year, elite athlete and breakthrough across other sports.

A speech from president Rui Costa is also expected.
