Benfica ‘to target’ Lucas Stassin as Ivanovic successor | OneFootball

Franjo Ivanovic is set to leave Benfica for Lens, with formal confirmation expected in the coming days. With his exit, Saint-Étienne’s 21-year-old Lucas Stassin has been linked as a possible replacement.

According to Foot Mercato, the Belgian international striker is on Benfica’s radar as Ivanovic’s successor.

However, Marco Silva currently has three centre-forwards, Vangelis Pavlidis, Jhon Durán and Anísio Cabral. The academy product has yet to feature this season. Club decision-makers had wanted him to remain the third striker, which could limit room for Stassin.

Stassin, born in Braine-le-Comte, has been at Saint-Étienne since 2024. Before moving, he played for Westerlo, featuring in five Eerste Klasse games at the start of 24/25, with two goals and three assists in 406 minutes.

Last season for Saint-Étienne, he made 35 appearances, 32 in Ligue 2, two in the Ligue 1-2 play-off and one in the French Cup, totalling 2,597 minutes. He scored 11 goals and registered seven assists, and is valued at 15 million euros.
