Franjo Ivanovic’s stoppage-time winner in Benfica’s 2-1 victory at Arouca triggered celebrations that coincided with a fire in the stands, damaging broadcast cables and disrupting Sport TV’s coverage late on.

The blaze left transmission infrastructure compromised. According to Record, five cameras were left inoperable, including both main halfway-line units, the offside camera, and two positioned behind Anatoliy Trubin’s goal.

The incident caused technical problems in the final moments. From 98:57 until the final whistle at 101:20, the broadcast lost the commentator, co-commentator and pitchside reporter audio, leaving only stadium ambience.

The matter was recorded in reports by Liga Portugal delegates and by the authorities, notably the Guarda Nacional Republicana.

The television production company also filed a complaint over equipment damage arising from the incident.

The result keeps Benfica in the Liga Portugal Betclic title race. They sit third on 62 points, level with Sporting, who have one game in hand, and seven behind Porto on 69.
