Dodi Lukebakio is catching the eye for Belgium in the Nations League, drawing praise from former defender Philippe Albert. La Capitale reports that Albert has been particularly impressed by the Benfica winger’s recent impact.

Used off the bench against Italy, he needed only 32 minutes to score in a 2-0 win in Rome.

He again came on after the break versus France and, in 27 minutes, produced the two efforts on target.

Handed a start in Liège, he departed on 61 minutes after supplying an assist. Despite competition from Diego Moreira, formerly of Benfica’s academy and now at Milan, he is earning increasing credit.

Albert said Lukebakio has, in just three matches, convinced everyone, starting with Mark van Bommel, who picked him from the start at Sclessin. He highlighted the winger’s explosive speed down the right and his ability to cut inside and enliven the play. Albert added that, if he had not struck the woodwork twice against Türkiye, Lukebakio would currently be the team’s top scorer.
