Stade Rennais’ midfielder Benjamin Bourigeaud (30) has been approached by Qatari side Al Duhail, coached by former PSG manager Christophe Galtier.
Rennes have been one of Ligue 1’s most active clubs so far during this summer transfer window, and their business is reportedly far to be done. With Glen Kamara and Albert Gronbaek’s arrivals, the Brittany side has lots of competition for their midfield, despite having already let Enzo Le Fée and Fabian Rieder leave respectively for AS Roma and VfB Stuttgart. Les Rouges et Noirs could lose another key player in midfield, as Al Duhail are in talks to sign Bourigeaud, who is tied to Rennes until 2026.
According to L’Equipe, Al Duhail wish to attract multiple Ligue 1 players to strengthen their squad and help Christophe Galtier achieve his objective. Last summer, the Qatari outfit signed former Brest midfielder Ibrahima Diallo and former Lille striker Isaac Lihadji, and are now desperate to sign Bourigeaud, who is coming off another great season in which he logged nine goals and six assists in 32 games. Last month, the French outlet revealed that Saudi Arabia’s giants Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad were both targeting Rennes’ midfielder. It remains to be seen whether the 30-year-old would be keen on a first experience abroad.
