Some rumours on the transfer front has spread like wildfire these past few days regarding one of our own Celtic players. It’s one that has been reported by a few reliable and reputable outlets, so naturally it has caught the attention of the Celtic support.

The man in question is Benjamin Nygren, undoubtedly our most valuable asset this campaign due to his invaluable goal contribution. Without his input it would be unthinkable to imagine what position we would currently be in.

According to reports, the Swedish international is the subject of interest from serval top flight English clubs, with a La Liga side also credited with an interest in the former Nordsjaelland man.

The price for the player has apparently been set at a staggering £26 million!! Quite a dramatic profit on a player who cost the club just £2.5 million last summer.

Some will scoff that he’s not worth that amount of money, but who is? And if a club is willing to pay that sort of cash, then it is totally their prerogative, and one in my opinion we should be happy to negotiate and seal any proposed deal.

I don’t like cashing in on our most valuable assets, but under the current circumstances, I think it would be very wise to take the highest offer on the table.

We got our fingers burnt last year by not cashing in on Daizen Maeda when his profile was high, now we are stuck with a player who wants to leave, and when he ultimately does, we will only get a fraction of the number he was worth during his peak.

If true, accepting an offer of £26 plus million for a Benji would go a long way in giving the new manager a whopping transfer kitty to rebuild a side which is in dire need of improvement.

Others will also be leaving, and the club will fetch a pretty penny in transfer fees, so the new man whoever he may be, should have the immediate backing on the recruitment front with hopefully someone other than Michael Nicholson being tasked with getting deals over the line.

When a club offers you a bid of £26million for one player, one who could easily be replaced, your immediate response is sell, sell, sell.We shouldn’t worry of course, as our board are well competent in selling players, we just need to hope and pray that they’ve learned a lesson and upped their standards when it comes to bringing them in.
