Benjamin Sesko confirms injury issue after withdrawing from international duty | OneFootball

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has confirmed that he is out with an injury after withdrawing from the Slovenia squad.

Sesko has had a difficult time with an injury  since missing the final games of the 2025/26 season which saw him also miss out on much of pre-season. The 23-year-old has featured six times for United so far this season and has scored twice but was absent for Sunday's 1-1 draw away to Fulham.

"I’m really sorry that I’ll have to miss the upcoming international matches," Sesko said in a social statement.

"I have always played for Slovenia with my heart and pride, and I always will.

"Right now, the most important thing is to fully focus on my recovery. I’m already working on getting back on the pitch as soon as possible so I can help both my country and my club again."

The news will be of particular concern to Michael Carrick who is without a backup number nine meaning that Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Joshua Zirkzee, or Marcus Rashford may have to deputise in a less natural role.
