Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall has returned to London, where he will continue rehabilitation after leaving Sweden’s training camp.
The Tottenham ace will not be available to play in the men’s national team’s next two matches.
Bergvall had suffered a concussion as Tottenham lost to Chelsea on November 1. National team manager Stefan Pettersson confirmed Bergvall’s setback during training.
He said (via SportBladet), “We had agreed with Tottenham’s doctor to do some tests during the week and then run at full speed so that Lucas would feel it properly.
“When there was a reaction, there was no hesitation. We don’t want to take any risks.”
The ‘intelligent‘ central midfielder already missed games against Manchester United and Copenhagen before the international break.
Spurs boss Thomas Frank will hope to have him ready for the derby against Arsenal on November 23, but it is unclear whether he will be fit to feature.
Tottenham have won just one of their last four games and desperately need to get back on track.
Frank needs all hands on deck when they face the table-toppers, and Bergvall would be a massive miss if he is not ready for the game.
He is a dynamic midfield option for Spurs, and carries a threat even when he comes off the bench.
The energetic engine room operator has emerged as a solid player since his switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Unfortunately, Tottenham are dealing with a raft of injuries again. Besides Bergvall, Randal Kolo Muani and Mohammed Kudus are sidelined.
Archie Gray, Yves Bissouma, Ben Davies and Kota Takai are also struggling with injuries.
Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke are out for the foreseeable future due to long-term injuries.
