Bermuda, Grenada strengthen World Cup hopes

MIAMI – Bermuda and Grenada earned big wins as the Second Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 resumed on Wednesday.
The Road to the 2026 continues for Concacaf nations with the final encounters of the Second Round during the June 2025 match window. The group winners and runners-up will progress to the Third and Final Round.
Bermuda 5, Cayman Islands 0
Bermuda earned a 5-nil victory against the Cayman Islands in Group A at the Dame Flora Duffy National Sports Centre in Devonshire Parish, Bermuda.
Zeiko Lewis struck the lone goal of the first half in the 12’, converting a penalty kick opportunity for the hosts.
Djair Parfitt-Williams extended the lead in the 54’ as Lewis collected the assist.
Parfitt-Williams turned provider in the 64’ to assist Kole Hall, who hit from long distance.
Reggie Lambe struck inside the box in the 79’ to extend the lead to five off a corner kick opportunity.
Julian Carpenter added a sixth for Bermuda in the 85’, striking a rebound that stemmed from an outside the box attempt by Rahzir Smith-Jones.
Bermuda improved to four points and will meet Cuba on Tuesday at Estadio Antonio Maceo in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.
The Cayman Islands will conclude its campaign against Honduras on Saturday at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands.
Grenada 6, Bahamas 0
Grenada earned a 6-nil win against The Bahamas in Group B at Kirani James National Stadium in St. George's, Grenada.
Jermaine Francis struck first for the hosts in the 15’ with a header inside the box to meet a cross from Regan Charles-Cook.
Darius Johnson doubled the lead in the 36’ off a counterattack as Charles-Cook collected his second assist.
Keishean Francois continued the scoring in the 58’ with a left-footed hit on the edge of the goal line.
Joshua Isaac added his name to the scoresheet in the 72’ with a right-footed hit from close range.
Kayden Harrack made it five for the home side in the 77’. Saydrel Lewis put the bow on the victory in the 90’ with a header inside the box.
Grenada improved to four points to move up to third place. The Spice Boys will close its campaign against Saint Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday at Warner Park Football Stadium in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The Bahamas was unable to move up from last place and cannot advance past the Second Round. The Caribbean nation will conclude its campaign against Costa Rica on Saturday at Wildey Turf in Bridgetown, Barbados.
