Bernardo promises Man City will ‘fight’ to save Real Madrid tie | OneFootball

Bernardo Silva has said anything can happen and has promised Manchester City will fight to turn around their Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

City lost 3-0 to Real Madrid in the first meeting a week ago, as Federico Valverde’s hat-trick sealed the Spaniards a significant first-leg advantage.

Only four teams have ever overturned a three-goal deficit in the second leg of a Champions League tie, but Bernardo has insisted City will not give up their European campaign easily.

“This sport has taught us that a lot of things can happen. Even though the result in Madrid was really bad, we will fight until the end,” he said at a pre-match press conference.

“The opponent is a very good one. At home, a lot of things can happen. We are going to try create the right atmosphere for that to happen.

“It’s never easy, especially after just a week. Usually after a big defeat, on the day you feel like everything is very dark, then it gets brighter.

“Even though this week was really bad for us, we know what we are capable of. The problem we lacked is the consistency. If we are on it tomorrow, we know it is possible.”
