Premier League clubs spent a record-shattering £3.19 billion on new signings last summer, eclipsing the previous record of £2.46bn set in 2023.
A number of Serie A players moved to the English top-flight. Here are four signings who have stood out during the first half of the campaign.
The Netherlands international arrived at Manchester City after a productive season at AC Milan, where he made 20 goal contributions from 57 appearances in all competitions.
He has carried over the form to the Mancunian giants. The Dutchman has already managed 10 goal involvements and has been a fantastic successor to Ilkay Gundogan.
The 27-year-old arrived for £46m last summer, and has made an instant impact for the Cityzens.
The 24-year-old also left the Rossoneri for the Premier League last summer. He was initially signed to provide competition for places in central defence, but has since become a mainstay.
With Sven Botman’s inability to stay fit, Thiaw has been an undisputed starter in the right centre-back role. The German has a 90 percent passing accuracy during the league campaign.
He has been a strong presence, winning 73 percent of his aerial duels. Thiaw has also averaged six clearances and four recoveries for the Tyneside outfit, who are 10th in the standings.
The Slovenian centre-back started the season as an unused substitute for the Whites. He did not make his league debut under manager Daniel Farke until late October against West Ham United.
Since then, he has been almost ever-present in central defence for Leeds. The 26-year-old has played an instrumental role in a back three during the club’s recent upturn in league form.
Bijol has completed 88 percent of his passes with 60 percent duels won. He has made three recoveries and almost five clearances per appearance for the Yorkshire outfit this campaign.
Chukwueze left the Rossoneri for the Cottagers on deadline day last summer. The Nigerian winger was signed on an initial loan deal with an option to buy, and has made a good impression.
The 26-year-old has played only 400 league minutes, but has six goal involvements. Five of those have come in his last five appearances. He scored a brace in the thrilling 5-4 loss to Manchester City.
The former Villarreal man was in good form before reporting for the Africa Cup of Nations with his country. Marco Silva’s side will hope he can replicate his early performances on his return.
