The joy for the away fans was short-lived. Betis quickly responded, with Johnny Cardoso picking up a rebound to make it 1-1 in the 25th minute.

With the game going into stoppage time in the first half Manuel Pellegrini's side took the lead after a quick exchange of passes between the lines with Cucho Hernández neatly finishing for his first Betis goal.

Sevilla weren't able to find a way back into the game in the second half with Betis instead picking up all three points.

That result moves Betis up to fifth 11 points clear of the city rivals who sit in 11th place.
