Bettoni, Msaidie, Dupont, Collado: the team behind Zinédine Zidane’s new France set-up | OneFootball

Zinédine Zidane’s backroom team will be in full view on Friday at 20:45 in Türkiye in the Nations League, after a week of pitchside consultations with their new head coach.

According to L'Équipe, David Bettoni, Zidane’s trusted ally since AS Cannes in 1998, is back alongside him after Real Madrid, a brief stint in charge at FC Sion in 2023 and Club Africain from July 2024 to June 2025. The hierarchy remains intact, with Hamidou Msaidie still assistant number two, a physio and fasciatherapist first recommended through Cannes links.

Fabien Barthez returns to coach the goalkeepers, having served under Raymond Domenech and Laurent Blanc after winning the 1998 World Cup with Zidane. Retired since 2007, he brings a forthright view of a position he helped redefine.

Grégory Dupont, close to joining Troyes in the summer while being, and remaining, Red Star’s director of football since 2025, is back in his element. Fitness coach for France in 2018, he joined Zidane at Real Madrid in 2019 and now acts as strategic and performance adviser.

Farid Tabet, also close to Bettoni, has been appointed assistant coach and data video analyst in the FFF’s terminology. He long coached Cannet-Rocheville from 2011 to 2014 and 2015 to 2024, then assisted Bettoni at Club Africain.

Clément Ybert is the only holdover from the Deschamps era. Video analyst with the France women from 2011 to 2024, he had moved to the men’s set-up and will serve as deputy video analyst alongside Tabet.

Arthur Hochedé accepted the role of fitness coach this summer, leaving Red Star, which he had joined a year earlier.

Sports doctor Hervé Collado leads the medical unit with podiatrist Serge Isidro, who replaced Marc Retali after an unauthorised media appearance, plus physios Maxime Matton, Paul Olive, Nagib Remita and Pierre-Yves Froideval, osteopath Philippe Boixel and masseur Philippe Jamin.

After 23 years as a Canal group journalist, Xavier Giraudon is the new press officer. He will sit alongside Zidane at news conferences, having first known him in the early 1990s while covering Bordeaux for France Bleu Gironde.
