Bia Vaz names 20 players for Conmebol U15 Evolution League

The head coach of Brazil’s Under-15 Women’s National Team, Bia Vaz, called up, this Monday (17), the 20 players who will compete in the Conmebol Under-15 Liga Evolución. The tournament will take place between September 8 and 20 at the Women’s Football High Performance Center (Carfem), in the city of Ypané, Paraguay. The players will report on August 7 in Guarulhos, São Paulo.

“We have a talented squad that already competes in important tournaments and brings experience to share with the team. Beyond the tournament itself, we have the challenge of helping our players understand how special it is to wear the Brazil shirt at such a young age in an international competitive environment,” Bia said.

The 20 players called up by the Under-15 Women’s National Team coach come from 11 different clubs in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Pernambuco, as well as the United States: Grêmio, Internacional, Flamengo, Fluminense, Vasco, São Paulo, Corinthians, Ferroviária, Cruzeiro, Sport Recife, Philadelphia Ukrainian.

Competition has a different format

Brazil is aiming for a second straight title. Last year, the Seleção won the first edition of the competition, also in Paraguay, by defeating Argentina 4-2 in a penalty shootout. Part of the Evolution Program run by the South American Football Confederation, the tournament brings together all 10 South American national teams in a different format.

The teams are divided into two groups and play each other in a round-robin points system. In the final stage, the teams from each group face one another according to their placing (1st vs. 1st, 2nd vs. 2nd, etc.), ensuring that all participants play a total of five matches.

The matches have two 40-minute halves and a 15-minute halftime break, with a third period in which integration activities and educational talks are held before the teams return to the locker room.
