A big update on Yoane Wissa from Eddie Howe.

The Newcastle United boss speaking ahead of the Fulham match tomorrow.

Yoane Wissa won’t be involved but Sky Sports report that the striker saw a specialist on Thursday for a check up and is on track to return to the playing squad in these next two weeks.

Eddie Howe though has cautioned that patience is going to be needed with a player who has played no club football for over five months.

The Newcastle United boss admitting that Yoane Wissa is going to need a ‘six week pre-season training regime’ when he does return from this knee injury. However, whilst caution and patience will be the watchwords, this doesn’t mean the striker won’t be able to play during that six week ‘pre-season’ training regime.

I take it that what we should expect is that Yoane Wissa will get a fair few sub appearances before he makes his first start.

With Nick Woltemade in such great form, hopefully that will help to give Wissa the time he needs to get up to speed.

Keith Downie of Sky Sports – Friday 24 October 2025:

‘Eddie Howe says Yoane Wissa is going to need a 6-week “pre-season” training regime when he returns from his knee injury.

Howe says that doesn’t mean he won’t play during that time, but patience is going to be required with the forward.

The 29-year-old saw a specialist for a check-up yesterday and is still on track to be back in the squad within the next two weeks.’
