Goals from Haji Wright and Jack Rudoni saw the Sky Blues complete a turnaround victory, after Harrison Burrows had initially put Chris Wilder’s side ahead at the start of the second half.

The Yorkshire outfit missed out on the chance to stretch their winning run to three games, and they have now fallen nine points behind sixth place Wrexham as a result.

Sheffield United will be keen to put the disappointment of this defeat behind them quickly, with their sights set on closing the gap to the play-off places.

The club reached the play-off final last season, losing 2-1 to Sunderland, but it has been a turbulent subsequent campaign.

Ruben Selles initially oversaw defeat in each of the opening five fixtures before Wilder returned for a third stint as manager.

New Sheffield United co-owner Steven Rosen made a rare public appearance ahead of the 2-1 defeat to Coventry midweek.

The American spoke to supporters, and hinted at a potential return to the club for legendary figure Billy Sharp.

"We'll put that on the to-do list,” said Rosen, via When Saturdays Comes on YouTube.

The businessman hinted that the forward could take on a role in a coaching capacity, with his playing career in its final stages.

The 40-year-old is currently plying his trade with Doncaster Rovers in League One, where he has contributed three goals and one assist from 31 appearances so far this season.

Sharp was a crucial player for the Blades during his two stints at Bramall Lane, originally playing for the club from 2007 to 2010 before returning in 2015.

He scored over 100 goals during his eight years back in the team, and he played a significant role in the side under Chris Wilder as they earned promotions to both the Championship and the Premier League.

Sharp scored six goals from 41 appearances in the top flight, including three in 2019/20 as the Blades finished ninth in the table.

The Yorkshire outfit are now seeking a play-off place this season, as they eye a return to the first division.

Sheffield United are 16th in the Championship table, nine points adrift of sixth place Wrexham.

Next up for Wilder’s side is a trip to face QPR on 28 February in a 3pm kick-off.

Billy Sharp return would be welcome at Bramall Lane

Sharp is still performing even at the age of 40, but if he did want to begin a coaching career then a move to Bramall Lane would make a lot of sense.

He became a club legend for the Blades during his time with the club, in particular during his second stint where he scored for the team in three different divisions.

Given his relationship with Wilder, it would be a smart move for him to make his start as a coach with someone he knows well and can work with easily.

The 58-year-old would be a great leader to learn from, and fans would surely welcome the sight of Sharp back at Bramall Lane in the future, if he can be brought in as a coach.
