The match was halted straight away as medics, along with an air ambulance, rushed onto the pitch to treat him. After just 13 minutes, the game was called off.

Vigar sustained a severe brain injury and was put into an induced coma. He underwent surgery on Tuesday in the hope it would aid his recovery, but he sadly passed away on Thursday.

Chichester City released a statement on behalf of his family confirming the devastating news, and also announced that their weekend fixture against Lewes would not go ahead.

Tributes have poured in from across the football world, with Arsenal and Derby among the clubs to honour his memory.
