August Priske is reportedly on his way to St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park

Birmingham City have reportedly agreed a deal worth at least seven million euros for the acquisition of August Priske from Swedish Allsvenskan outfit, Djurgardens IF.

That is according to Danish publication, Tipsbladet, who claim that the 21-year-old striker is now set to arrive in the West Midlands on Monday to finalise the deal which will see him move to English football for the first time in his career.

Blues have been heavily linked with a whole host of players across several positions throughout the current winter transfer window thus far, after the club's plans throughout the timeframe were widely reported in the lead-up to the opening of the window on New Year's Day.

So far, Chris Davies has addressed major issues in the left-back department with the signing of German full-back, Kai Wagner, from Philadelphia Union, which came in the opening days of the window, before the Second City outfit also confirmed the initial loan capture of Girona FC's Colombian midfielder, Jhon Solis, in the hours leading up to the 1-1 draw against Swansea City in South Wales on Saturday evening - although it has also been widely claimed that the 21-year-old could complete a permanent £6.9m switch to St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park on either an optional or mandatory basis.

Meanwhile, Football League World exclusively revealed in the first week of the window that a departure for Lyndon Dykes would only be sanctioned by the Birmingham hierarchy if an adequate replacement was sourced.

Indeed, he became the fifth player to leave B9 so far this window on Thursday, as he struck a short-term deal with Championship rivals, Charlton Athletic.

However, those links also came just hours after initial rumours of Priske's potential move to the Midlands came to light, and reports now suggest that a deal has progressed rather quickly between Blues and Djurgardens.

As previously mentioned, initial links between Priske and the ambitious second tier club surfaced on Thursday, with it being claimed that Blues had emerged as the front-runners in a strong race for his signature ahead of Turkish Süper Lig giants, Besiktas, and LOSC Lille of the French top flight.

It was also stated within the report, which also came through Tipsbladet, that talks between Djurgardens and Birmingham were close to concluding.

Shortly after such claims came to light, Djurgardens sporting director, Bosse Andersson, revealed that “There has been contact with a lot of clubs during this transfer window," regarding whether Priske would depart the Stockholm-based side ahead of the beginning of their 2026 campaign, which commences with three Swedish cup group stage fixtures, the first of which is against Falkenberg on February 22nd.

Andersson also stated back in October that a sale for Priske would trump the eventual overall fee which Djurgardens received from Premier League outfit, Tottenham Hotspur, in the deal which took Lucas Bergvall to North London under Ange Postecoglou in February 2024.

However, after talks have seemingly progressed between the relevant parties whilst Blues picked up their first point away from St. Andrew's since November 26th, it would appear that such a development will not be the case in terms of the profits which Andersson would have liked to have registered for Priske, who joined from Danish Superliga club, FC Midtjylland, for a reported €300,000 in the summer of 2024.

That's because, according to Tipsbladet's fresh revelation regarding the transfer saga, an agreement has been struck which will see Priske move to Birmingham for a deal reportedly worth at least €7m (£6m) plus bonuses, and that the striker is now set to finalise his personal terms and undergo his medical.

It has been a frustrating season for Blues, who currently find themselves 14th, eight points behind the play-offs with 19 games remaining, despite the club's well-documented ambitions.

Jay Stansfield and Marvin Ducksch currently have 14 league goals between them, whilst both of Kyogo Furuhashi's strikes since his eight-figure switch from Rennes have come in cup outings, which remains an alarming concern.

As such, the addition of Priske is one which will excite Bluenoses, with the Danish youth international scoring 18 times last term, whilst still having plenty of years on his side when it comes to fulfilling his potential.

He has also been described as a "complete forward", meaning that, in the short-term, his presence could be a welcome answer to the club's frustrations when it comes to creative output.
