After suffering relegation on the final day of the previous season, Blues are preparing for life in League One, although there is an optimistic mood around the club after the appointment of Chris Davies as manager.

The former Leicester assistant is gearing up for his first managerial role, and he is expected to be backed in the market as he looks to build a Birmingham side that can bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt.

Birmingham City monitoring Bojan Miovski

Bringing in a new number nine is sure to be a priority now the window is opened, and Sun journalist Alan Nixon has claimed that Blues are looking at Miovski, who has enjoyed two successful years with Aberdeen since making the move to Scotland.

However, the update adds that doing a deal for the North Macedonian is not going to be straightforward, as Bologna are also interested, and he reveals that the Italian outfit could be willing to pay up to £7m for the 24-year-old.

If that’s the case, the report states it would be too much for Blues, whilst the appeal of moving to Serie A is obvious, along with the fact that Bologna will be in the Champions League next season.

But, it appears that if a deal can’t be reached, Birmingham would look to capitalise if the opportunity came up.

Bojan Miovski would be a real statement of intent from Birmingham City

In truth, it’s very hard to see this deal happening for a number of reasons, not least that Miovski is a player who really shouldn’t be playing in League One next season.

He scored 16 goals in the Scottish Premiership in the previous campaign, which matched his first year at Pittodrie, so he is someone who is capable in front of goal. Plus, he has shone for the Dons in big games, including against the two Glasgow sides.

We know that Tom Wagner has big plans for Birmingham, and even though they were relegated, there is a sense that Blues are heading in the right direction under the owners.

So, nothing can be ruled out, but this would be a real surprise - and a major coup, if they could convince Miovski to move to St. Andrew’s at this stage of his career.

Birmingham City’s summer plans

As outlined above, it’s clear that Blues need a new number nine this summer, as scoring goals has been a problem, so the links to Miovski are encouraging in the sense that the recruitment team clearly recognise this issue, and they may be prepared to go big to solve it this summer.

By bringing in Davies at this early stage, they can start work quickly in the market, and he will no doubt be having a major input as he looks to bring in players that will suit his style of play.

Now, it’s about identifying players who can help Birmingham progress, and it could be shaping up to be an exciting summer for Blues as they look to kickstart a new, successful era under Davies.
