Chris Davies has confirmed that both Willum Willumsson and Keshi Anderson will not feature for Birmingham City until after the October international break.

The attacking duo had played a substantial part in the Blues' opening four games of the Championship season. Anderson had played a part in all four, whilst Willumsson had made starts in the two league games before the September international period.

However, after missing their recent defeat away at Stoke City, Chris Davies confirmed that the pairing will be missing for the rest of the month at least, according to a report from Birmingham Live.

Birmingham Live have revealed that both Anderson and Willumsson, who missed last Saturday's loss at Stoke, will be absent until the end of the October international break at least.

"Those two look like they will be unavailable until the next international break," Davies said following the defeat to the Potters.

The type of injury is yet to be specified by the club, but losing a couple of important squad players for any period of time is a blow, especially with the Blues in a three-game losing slump in all competitions, something which has become a rarity over the past 12 months.

Anderson made starts in each of the opening couple of Championship games for Birmingham, before coming off the bench in the latter two, whilst Willumsson, who started 36 times in League One last season, had made his first two Championship starts in the lead up to the September international break.

The attacking duo will miss home games against Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday, alongside a couple of vital away trips to Coventry City and fellow newly-promoted side Wrexham.

Whilst not vital first-team players, losing both Anderson and Willumsson at the same time leaves Chris Davies slightly light in the wide areas, and it will give him more of a headache in what is an unnatural time for him as a manager.

The former Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach couldn't have dreamed of a better first job in management, being the man behind a record-breaking League One season in his first campaign in the St Andrew's dugout.

This season in the Championship was always going to provide more difficulties for the Birmingham boss, and the back-to-back league defeats against both Leicester City and Stoke resemble the first time that the Blues have lost consecutively in league action since April 2024.

The schedule isn't getting easier either, with their unbeaten league home run under Davies being put to the test next time out against an impressive Swansea City side. The Birmingham boss will have to navigate that, plus the following three games, without two wingers who have played an important role during his time as manager so far.
