Jhon Solis is reportedly of interest to Blues in this transfer window
Birmingham City are reportedly involved in the transfer saga surrounding Girona midfielder, Jhon Solis, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the Estadi Montilivi.
Blues are looking to make the requisite changes to their squad that will bolster their chances of ending the Championship season in a play-off position, as they currently find themselves seven points behind the top six.
Chris Davies' side took a break from second tier action this weekend, progressing to the FA Cup fourth round for a third successive season after defeating Cambridge United 3-2 at the Cledara Abbey Stadium.
Yet, whilst the West Midlands outfit have already been involved in three dramatic encounters at the start of 2026, it is transfer activity, as well as the potential for further business to be conducted, which continues to generate plenty of discourse in this part of the Second City.
It had been widely discussed that the current window would be critical for Davies and Blues amid their ambitions under ownership group, Knighthead Capital Management, with the 40-year-old suffering an availability crisis at various points of the campaign thus far due to injuries and suspensions.
Left-back was one of those, and Birmingham addressed a lack of depth in said department with the sudden acquisition of Kai Wagner from Philadelphia Union, whilst also bidding farewell to three players thus far.
Eiran Cashin saw his loan spell cut short before linking up with Blackburn Rovers, whilst Dion Sanderson's loan switch to Derby County was turned permanent and Emil Hansson also exited for Excelsior Rotterdam.
And, whilst Football League World understand that as many as eight total departures could be confirmed between now and February 2nd, there is said to be scope for further reinforcements to be added to Davies' ranks.
Indeed, it was claimed ahead of the window that the Blues boss would also be targeting a powerful midfielder and another striker.
The potential acquisition of Solis would help address one of those areas, although a move for the 21-year-old appears to be far from straightforward, according to reports.

Solis is currently featuring for Girona, having moved to the Catalonia-based side in the summer of 2023 from Colombian top flight side, Atlético National.
Before his switch to the Spanish side, the 21-year-old was reportedly of interest to Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United, and was said to have enough points to obtain a work permit ahead of a potential maiden switch to English football, albeit it would never materialise.
Since then, the 10-time Under-16 international has made 61 appearances for Girona, scoring once and posting a further assist in said timeframe.
Five of those appearances would also come in the UEFA Champions League, with his current employers qualifying for the League Phase of European football's most prestigious competition for the first time ever in 2024/25.
However, the highly-rated and combative midfielder's immediate future has been plunged into doubt at the start of the transfer window, with Blues one of two sides looking to take advantage of the situation.
On Friday afternoon, it was claimed that Mexican top flight side, Tigres UANL, had lodged an offer of €3m (£2.6m) to sign Solis, although Girona are said to have rejected said offer as they look to recoup as much of the €6m (£5.2m) they parted with to lure the prospect from Atlético National two-and-a-half years ago.
Girona-based reporter, Ivan Quiros, has since relayed reports from Mexico that Tigres have identified the potential signing of Paraguayan 29-year-old, Richard Sanchez, should they fall short in their aim of landing Solis' signature.
That is because, according to Nil Sola, also via X, Blues have put a high offer on the table to sign the Colombian, with the journalist describing the Championship club's desire to strike a deal as "going all out for him."

It remains to be seen what occurs in the aforementioned transfer saga. However, should Solis arrive at St. Andrew's, it could have a knock-on effect in terms of transfer activity involving some of Davies' current midfield.
It has been reported that the door is open for Marc Leonard to depart this window, with FLW understanding that the Scot could be of five players who could leave the club on a permanent basis.
Leonard has struggled for regular minutes since arriving from Brighton in July 2024 despite his ability very rarely being questioned, whilst it has been suggested that the 24-year-old's potential exit would only be sanctioned if midfield reinforcements can be sourced.
