Birmingham City can now ramp up their plans for the summer transfer window after appointing Chris Davies as their new boss.

Work may have gone on regarding recruitment even before Davies was appointed, but the new manager will want to have a say on who comes in, who is sold and who is loaned out.

There's no shortage of pressure on Davies, who will be expected to take Blues back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

With this in mind, he will be desperate to see the right players recruited to give his team the best chance of achieving this aim.

Considering how committed Tom Wagner seems to Birmingham, there may not be a shortage of financial backing in the transfer market, although the stature of the club alone could persuade some players to make the move to St Andrew's.

With the club already being linked with a number of potential additions, we take a look at the latest news involving the Midlands club.

The Shropshire Star have revealed that Rotherham United are currently ahead of others in the race for Shrewsbury Town shot-stopper Marko Marosi.

Marosi's departure from Shrewsbury has been confirmed and that will give an interested team the opportunity to poach him on a free transfer.

Birmingham, Huddersfield Town and Wrexham are also thought to be in the mix for the player, but Steve Evans' side are thought to be leading the race for the goalkeeper.

The Millers have made a very productive start to the summer - and they could potentially replace Viktor Johansson with the Shrewsbury man.

Birmingham City set to face battle for Scott Twine

Birmingham have joined the race to recruit Burnley attacking midfielder Scott Twine, according to The Sun.

The Clarets man will be sold this summer and three teams have been linked with the ex-MK Dons player, who shone for the Buckinghamshire outfit when he last played in League One.

Liam Manning was his manager at Stadium MK - and he is now in charge of Bristol City - who took Twine on loan for the second half of last season.

Blues are now in the third tier and that could put them at a disadvantage in this race, but that hasn't stopped them from submitting an inquiry for the 24-year-old.

Birmingham City keen on Marc Leonard

Blues are also eyeing a move for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Marc Leonard, who spent last season on loan at Northampton Town.

Alan Nixon believes Birmingham want to make Leonard their first signing of the summer - and talks have started between Blues and the Seagulls regarding a potential deal.

They will need to fend off Championship interest if they are to recruit him, but the opportunity to play for a big club like the Midlands side could potentially work in their favour.

Already knowing that he can shine in the third tier, Birmingham could benefit from bringing Leonard in permanently, before potentially selling him for a healthy profit in the future.
