Birmingham City remain interested in bringing back Ibrahim Osman on loan this summer from Brighton and Hove Albion

Birmingham City will have their sights set on a top eight finish in the Championship next season, as Chris Davies continues to prepare his squad for next season with some key additions.

Birmingham have made five additions this summer, with two of them being familiar faces, namely Jhon Solis, who joins permanently for around £6 million from Girona, and James Beadle, who has returned on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion.

It was previously reported that Birmingham held an interest in re-signing Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Osman on loan and now, according to the Daily Mail, Blues maintain their interest in re-signing Osman, with the 21-year-old potentially available for another loan move this summer after a successful spell at St Andrews last time around.

Osman, 21, spent the second half of last season on loan with Birmingham in the Championship, making 18 appearances predominantly off the left flank, fighting for a place in the side with Demarai Gray.

The Ghanaian would score two and assist two during that period, with his electric displays from the left flank having won a cohort of Blues supporters over, as well as head coach Davies, who is seemingly keen to see him return to St Andrews before the end of the window.

Osman came through the ranks at Danish side Nordsjaelland, the same club that has helped develop numerous African talents over the years such as Simon Adingra, Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Ernest Nuamah.

He joined Brighton in the summer of 2024 for around £16 million, and spent the 2024/25 season out on loan in the Netherlands with Feyenoord, and then, before his switch to Birmingham, spent six months in France with Auxerre.

Although Osman's time in the Second City was brief, it was certainly impactful, and the glimpses of quality that he demonstrated have proven to be enough to tempt Birmingham back in for another deal.

With the Seagulls, Osman faces incredibly stiff competition in the forward areas, with the likes of Kaoru Mitoma, Charalampos Kostoulas, Yankuba Minteh, Zadok Yohanna, Harry Howell, Diego Gomez, and even Ferdi Kadioglu and Maxim De Cuyper vying for a place in the side.

The Ghanaian international's best route for regular first team football is likely out on loan elsewhere, and having already spent time with Birmingham, he has had the chance to acclimatise to the club and to the Championship.

He could be set to explode into life next campaign, and Birmingham are hoping to be the beneficiaries of that, though competition for his services will surely be high.

Brighton are yet to make a final decision on the winger, though should he indeed become available for loan, Birmingham are there ready and waiting to welcome him back to St Andrews.

With Osman firmly in Birmingham's sights, Davies doesn't appear to be stopping just there in terms of adding reinforcements to the final third.

Bournemouth's Daniel Jebbison has also been reported to be of interest to the Blues, according to the Bournemouth Echo, but they face competition from both Southampton and Wrexham.

Premier League football will be the aim for Birmingham within the next couple of years, and they are looking to maintain their push for promotion with some important additions in that area of the pitch.
