Birmingham City are considering a deal for Bristol City midfielder Max Bird before the transfer market shuts

Birmingham City are considering an approach to Championship rivals Bristol City for midfielder Max Bird this summer.

According to BirminghamLive, the 25-year-old is being targeted by the Blues as they seek reinforcements in the middle of the park.

Bird is now in the final year of his current contract at Bristol City, which has opened the door for a potential exit from Ashton Gate.

The former Derby County player made the move to the Robins in the summer of 2024 on a three-year deal, after an initial loan move earlier that year, and his contract is now set to expire in 2027.

Due to a calf injury that kept him out of the entire first half of the season, Bird made just 15 appearances in the Championship for Bristol City in 2025-26, including only four starts, and Bird could now be set for an exit from the Robins before the transfer market shuts on September 1.

It’s been claimed that Birmingham are casting their eyes on a move for Bird as Chris Davies eyes an extra midfielder in his first team squad.

The Bristol City player has emerged as an option to fill the hole in the squad, with the Midlands outfit understood to be long-time admirers.
