Amano started her career in her native Japan with INAC Kobe Leonessa before moving to Sweden with Hammarby IF in 2024. The player spent the 2025 campaign on loan at Växjö DFF and she joined the club on a permanent basis for the 2026 OBOS Damallsvenskan season.

On the international stage, Amano has represented Japan at various youth levels up to and including Under-23 level.

After adding Amano to her Birmingham City squad, head coach Amy Merricks said: “Suzu is an exciting young player who has gained valuable experience with Japan at age-group level, making an impact at major international tournaments.

“She has also spent the last couple of years playing in a strong league in Sweden. She has a lot of potential, and we’re excited to support her development and have her as part of this group.”

Amano is Birmingham City’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window.
