The two teams will face each other in a big clash at the top of the League One table, with both sides aiming to compete for promotion to the Championship.

The Blues suffered relegation to the third tier last year, but are looking to bounce back with immediate promotion under Chris Davies.

Meanwhile, Wrexham have enjoyed a remarkable rise under their Hollywood owners, with Ryan Reynolds partnering with McElhenney.

Phil Parkinson’s side sit top of the table after just five games, having earned 13 points from a possible 15, with Birmingham down in sixth on 10 points but with a game in hand.

McElhenney has confirmed that both Brady and Beckham will be in attendance at St. Andrew’s on Monday evening.

Brady is an investor in the Midlands outfit, with the pair set to be joined by a neutral party in Beckham.

“Directly after the Emmys I’m hopping on a plane and going out to Birmingham, England, to watch Wrexham play Tom Brady’s team, Birmingham City,” said McElhenney, via Goal.

“We’re not legally allowed to bet on the games but we have fun, we have social media and whatnot.

“I’ll be joining him and I believe Mr David Beckham will be there as well - we should have a good time.”

McElhenney and Reynolds officially purchased Wrexham in November 2020, and have overseen a remarkable rise from the National League to League One in the four years since.

Parkinson took charge in July 2021, and he has led the team to back-to-back promotions in the last two seasons.

Wrexham will be aiming to compete at the top end of the League One table this year as well, and will have their sights set on a place in the Championship in the near future.

Wrexham league position

Wrexham can extend their lead at the top of the table with a victory over Birmingham on Monday evening.

The Blues have not played since a Football League Trophy defeat on penalties to Walsall on 3 September.

Davies’ side will be aiming to earn automatic promotion, so cannot afford to lose at home to a possible rival on Monday evening.

The game gets underway at 8pm, and will be available to watch on Sky Sports.

Birmingham clash will be huge for Wrexham and League One

There will be a lot of eyes on the game this evening between Birmingham and Wrexham.

The big celebrity names will only draw further attention, with both clubs making a big splash in their own way in the lead up to the game.

Wrexham’s rise in popularity has been well documented, with the Welcome to Wrexham series winning eight Emmys on Sunday evening.

This clash highlights just the strength of the English football pyramid, with so many people invested in the outcome of a third division game this early in the campaign, given the potential ramifications at the top of the table.
