According to Bild, Leonardo Bittencourt is close to joining newly promoted 2. Bundesliga side Energie Cottbus, with a medical expected soon.

The midfielder will leave Werder Bremen this summer when his contract expires, ending a seven-year stay.

The report adds that he is prepared to accept a significant pay cut to make the move and is expected to take a management role at the club after retirement.
