Eddie Howe has been asked the most bizarre Manchester United question.

This coming at the Newcastle United Head Coach’s pre-match Nottingham Forest press conference.

Eddie Howe asked about rumours that Manchester United could ask him to the job, if/when Ruben Amorim is finally sacked.

The Man U boss under extreme pressure as he will shortly be celebrating his first anniversary as manager at Old Trafford on 11 November 2025, if he survives until then.

Eddie Howe has schooled Ruben Amorim in both matches so far when they have faced each other, United dominating both games. Man U lucky to only lose 2-0 at Old Trafford, then Howe’s side smashing them 4-1 at St James’ Park.

Why on earth anybody would think Eddie Howe might leave Newcastle United for Manchester United is beyond belief, especially with the appalling Sir Jim Ratcliffe controlling the shambles there.

Eddie Howe ever the professional though.

Instead of saying anything disparaging about the mess at Manchester United, simply reaffirming his commitment to Newcastle United:

“My commitment is 100 per cent here and always has been.

“My family is here and we are fighting every day to make a success of what we are doing.

“The season [at Newcastle United] ahead could be a wonderful thing.

“That is what we are trying to focus on.

“Trying to make a success of the games we have coming up.”
