Andre Ayew is on his way to the Eredivisie. The Ghanaian forward will join up with fellow Black Stars international Denis Odoi in NAC Breda. The now 36-year-old, who was most recently playing for Le Havre in France, has been a free agent since the summer. Ayew now joins NAC Breda in the Eredivisie for the rest of the season. Fans of the club will hope that Ayew can be a major factor in helping the side avoid relegation at the end of the season.
Ayew has had an incredibly successful career at both club and international level. Ayew came through at Marseille, where he scored 60 goals in 194 games. Ayew then departed on a free transfer in 2015 to join Swansea City, the first of two spells with the Welsh side. Ayew scored 12 goals in his first season with Swansea in the premier League, a feat which earned him a move to west Ha. Ayew only spent two seasons with the Hammers, scoring 12 goals in 50 games. He then returned to Swansea, and either side of a loan spell with Fenerbahce he grabbed another 35 goals. His best season of his career at club level came during this period, with 18 goals in 47 games during the 2019/2020 EFL Championship season.
Ayew followed this up with 17 goals in 47 games before moving to Al-Sadd in Saudi-Arabia. Many predicted this would be the end of Ayew’s time in England, but he then returned in 2022/2023 for a season with Nottingham Forest. Ayew failed to score for Forest before leaving for Le Havre. In two seasons in France, Ayew scored 10 goals in 48 games.
At international level, Ayew is one of the best players of the sides recent generation. Son of the great Abedi Pele, Andre and his brother Jordan looked to follow in their fasters footsteps. Andre Ayew played 113 competitive games for Ghana, scoring 24 goals. He scored three at World Cup’s and 10 at Africa Cup of Nations finals. Sadly for Ayew, he and a strong Ghanaian generation were never able to lift the AFCON. However, he was part of the Ghana side that won many fans during the 2010 World Cup.
