Blackburn Rovers cannot afford to lose any more players this January
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Blackburn Rovers sit just four points above the relegation zone just after the halfway point of the EFL Championship season, and FLW's Blackburn fan pundit Simin Middlehurst has urged the club not to allow any more players leave the club this window.
It hasn't been a season to remember at Ewood Park, as it stands.
The Lancashire-based outfit find themselves narrowly above the drop zone as it stands, and if their form doesn't improve sooner rather than later, they could find themselves in the midst of a relegation battle in the latter stages of the campaign.
Makhtar Gueye has been sold to Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua as the club's only winter departure at this stage, whilst Eiran Cashin has joined on loan from Brighton until the end of the season after his stint at Birmingham City was cut short.
As with most clubs, the January window is a crucial one as it shapes much of the rest of the campaign, providing opportunities to make additions in key areas, with Blackburn being no different.
With Gueye being sold, this leaves Blackburn extremely short of attacking options, with just Yuki Ohashi and Andri Gudjohnsen the only recognised strikers in the squad.
Blackburn and Ismael need additions, that much is clear, and FLW's Rovers fan pundit has shared their opinion on the matter.

When asked about one player Blackburn should loan out or sell this January window, Rovers' Football League World fan pundit, Simon, reiterated that the club cannot afford any more outgoings with the squad being so threadbare, especially following the sale of Gueye.
Simon said, "To be honest with you, at the minute, we can't really afford to loan any player or sell any player."We've already lost Makhtar Gueye; it looks more than likely that potentially Igor Tijon will be gone, but with the amount of injuries that we've got, and the players available and the use of the academy players that have been quite apparent these last few weeks, we can't really afford to let anyone go.You know, it's more of a case of bringing players in. Strengthening the squad, making the squad have a bit more depth and bringing in a much-needed striker."

Indeed, Blackburn's squad was already thin before coming into the window, and the sale of Gueye has done little to remedy that.
Academy players such as the likes of Tin Atcheson, Kristi Montgomery, and George Pratt have been introduced into the squad this campaign, such as is the lack of numbers currently in the Rovers ranks.
Blackburn simply cannot allow any more sales this winter with the squad in the shape that it is, with additions being of the upmost priority.
If the Lancashire outfit is unable to sufficiently add the necessary quality to the squad this January, then their survival hopes will be really touch and go, with Norwich City looking likely to climb out of danger soon, and Oxford United and Portsmouth also not too far behind.
Additions at Ewood Park are imperative, and Ismael must do everything in his power to ensure his side comes out of the January window stronger than when they entered it.
