Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of former Lewes defender Grace Riglar on a free transfer.

The Lancashire side announced news of the deal via a post on their official club X account this afternoon.

Riglar joins Blackburn Rovers after leaving former club Lewes earlier this summer. The Sussex club were relegated from the Barclays Women’s Championship at the end of last season.

The 23-year-old full-back is experienced at Barclays Women’s Championship level. Riglar has turned out for Leicester City, Coventry United, Sheffield United and Lewes in the second tier. Riglar was a title-winner with former club Leicester City in 2020/2021 while she has more than 50 Barclays Women’s Championship appearances under her belt.

While Riglar is commonly known as a full-back, the player displayed her ability to operate in other areas of the pitch at Lewes last season. The youngster provided danger for The Rookettes in attack, netting six goals in 20 league outings. She may revert to a more familiar full-back role for new boss Simon Parker at Blackburn Rovers this season.

Riglar is Blackburn Rovers’ seventh signing of the summer transfer window. The player is the third arrival from Lewes with Riglar joining former teammates Ellie Hack and Eve Clarkson at Ewood Park.
