Blackburn Rovers have signed former England winger Nathan Redmond on a free transfer until the end of the season to aid their fight against relegation.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Rovers sit three places and four points above Leicester City, with seven matches remaining.
The 32-year-old, capped once during a successful spell at Southampton, left Burnley in the summer before joining Sheffield Wednesday in November. He made seven appearances for the Owls on a short-term deal, departing in January.
Michael O’Neill’s side were granted EFL permission to register Redmond in their 25-man Championship squad after long-term injuries to Sondre Tronstad and Lewis Miller.
Redmond has begun building fitness, playing 45 minutes for Blackburn’s Under-21s this week.
Rovers have taken four points from their last two matches against promotion hopefuls Millwall and Middlesbrough, leaving them best placed among five clubs battling to avoid the final two relegation spots. City are in the drop zone, a point from safety, and visit Ewood Park on the final day.
