Sheffield United concluded a productive week of warm-weather training in Spain by securing an impressive 2-1 victory over Levante in a behind closed-door pre-season friendly on Friday afternoon.

The Blades produced an energetic first-half display in Valencia, scoring twice inside the opening seven minutes through Femi Seriki and Sam McCallum. Those early strikes proved enough to hand Chris Wilder’s side a deserved second win in three pre-season outings, bringing an end to an encouraging training camp that combined intense preparation with valuable match minutes.

Sheffield United’s Attacking Full-backs on Full Display

United wasted little time stamping their authority on the contest, making a flying start that caught their Spanish opponents off guard. Just minutes into the match, Femi Seriki opened the scoring after showing excellent awareness and composure in front of goal.

The move began with an outstanding defence-splitting pass from Baptiste, whose perfectly weighted ball released Seriki in behind the Levante back line. Timing his run to perfection, the defender burst clear before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance and handing the Blades an early advantage.

The goal set the tone for an impressive opening spell, with Sheffield United pressing aggressively and moving the ball confidently despite the challenging conditions in the Spanish heat.

The Blades doubled their lead just moments later following a well-worked set-piece routine. Peck delivered a dangerous free-kick into the area, and although Levante initially dealt with the first phase of play, United quickly recycled possession. Campbell then produced a delicate dink towards the far post, where Sam McCallum had timed his run superbly before powering a header beyond the goalkeeper to extend their cushion.

As planned, manager Chris Wilder made wholesale changes at half-time, with an entirely different XI taking to the field for the second 45 minutes. The decision allowed 22 players to gain valuable minutes as fitness continues to build ahead of the new Championship campaign.

Blades Return to Sheffield For An All Yorkshire Affair

The training camp in Spain has offered players the opportunity to work intensively on both fitness and tactical preparation, with the warm conditions providing another demanding test as the squad edges closer to full match sharpness.

Following the victory, Sheffield United now return to South Yorkshire after completing what has been an excellent week abroad. The squad will quickly turn its attention to the next stage of preparations, with another behind closed-door fixture scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

League One side Huddersfield Town will visit the Blades’ Shirecliffe training base, where Chris Wilder’s men will continue to increase the intensity of their pre-season programme. With the start of the competitive campaign drawing ever closer, every training session and every friendly represents another important opportunity to fine-tune performances and build momentum.
