Kortrijk’s miserable start to the season could be set to get even worse. Imar Vandenabeele is reporting that new signing Thierry Ambrose has torn his Achilles tendon and could be out for the entire season. Ambrose suffered the injury just 45 minutes into his Kortrijk debut against Eupen at the weekend. The striker joined the club from Oostende this week, alongside Abdoulaye Sissako who also made his debut against the Pandas.
Kortrijk are the only side in Belgium without a point after four games. The side lost narrowly to Gent on the opening day, before losing to a Sint-Truiden side expected to be in the relegation mix with Kortrijk at the end of the season. They were demolished by Antwerp in their third match as the defending champions won 6-0, a scoreline that could have easily been more.
Eupen, like Sint-Truiden, are expected to be in the relegation battle with Kortrijk. However, once Ambrose had been taken off at half-time, Eupen ran out 3-1 winners. Kortrijk face the other winless side in Standard Liege next weekend.
